It's hard to believe that we've made it to the last installment of our 21 Places Around the World to Visit in 2021 series, but here we are. After keeping our luggage stowed away, our passports tucked safely in a drawer, and limiting our recent excursions to the local grocery store, it's time to start thinking big.
Of course, the COVID-19 pandemic situation hasn't gone anywhere, but with vaccines on the horizon and the renewed hope that we'll be able to travel internationally, we're more than ready to revisit our list of dream destinations across the globe. In the meantime, safe, smart travel is the only way to go.
Before you dive into the final chapter of 21 Places to Visit in 2021, don't forget to read the previous three posts:

Fun fact: there are over 7,600 islands in the Philippines. This tropical paradise is an ideal country to visit if you're looking for breathtaking beach landscapes, rich colonial history, and abundant flora and fauna. After you explore the capital city, Manila, head to Borcay Island's 12 beaches – known as some of the Philippines' best. Bohol's Chocolate Hills are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the island is also home to the pint-sized tarsier primate. Do you like to save the best for last? Head to Palawan Island and explore its stunning coves, caves, and rocky islands. There's even an entire network of underground rivers known as the Subterranean River National Park.
Argentina is a bucket list destination for many travelers, and it's easy to understand why. Argentina's diverse landscapes — from grassy wetlands and show-stopping waterfalls to rugged Andean peaks and ancient glaciers — are second to none. After falling in love with tango and the vibrant cultural scene in Buenos Aires, taste some of the world's best wines in Mendoza. Head south and stare in awe at the Perito Moreno Glacier; if you need warmer temperatures the Iguazú Falls and Esteros de Iberá wetlands will blow your mind. Add an extra bonus stamp to your passport by hopping across the Río de la Plata to visit Uruguay for the day.
Botswana is home to a wide range of landscapes, from rich red sand dunes and massive salt flats to lush river deltas and sweeping savannah grasslands. Start at the Okavango Delta, a respite from the intense conditions of the Kalahari Desert, and experience the magic of safari. Observe more wildlife at the Nxai Pan National Park or the Linyanti Wildlife Reserve. Looking for a truly otherworldly experience? Visit Kubu Island, a dry granite rock island in the middle of the Makgadikgadi Pan. Close out your adventure by visiting the Khama Rhino Sanctuary for an up close and personal look at these incredible – and endangered – creatures.
Oh, Canada! Visit the Great White North and experience some of the most untouched natural beauty in North America. Beyond its bustling cities of Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal, Canada's natural landscapes even more compelling. Jasper and Banff National Parks provide endless moments for surreal photos and views of wildlife; Niagara Falls in Ontario will provide an adrenaline rush no matter the time of year. Head east to Prince Edward Island for a summertime respite and quiet beaches. From skiing at Whistler in the winter to visiting Whitehorse in the Yukon for a glimpse of the northern lights, and everything in between, Canada is a perennial favorite to visit.
Move over, Croatia, there's a new kid in town. Montenegro is another Balkan nation with rugged mountains, postcard-worthy beaches, and charming medieval villages. It's yet to be overrun with tourists, so plan a visit before the word gets out. Harbor town Perast is often named as the most beautiful spot in Montenegro, perched between the Adriatic coast and the mountains. A quick drive from Perast is Kotor, whose Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and full of medieval Roman churches, Byzantine towers, and Venetian palaces. Visit Lake Skadar, the largest in the Balkans, for VIP glimpses of hundreds of migratory birds. Travelers with deep pockets must visit Sveti Stefan, an island that was taken over by the Aman hotel in 2008, offering a five-star experience.
Home, Sweet Home
Ok, hear us out… There really is no place like home. Last year taught us all to reconnect with our immediate surroundings, and when it's impossible to travel, looking at our environment with new years is essential. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter how many stamps you have in your passport or airline miles you've accrued if you don't have your health or loved ones to share it with.
We know you're eager to book a trip, hop on a flight, and get back out there in the world. For now, the biggest priority is staying safe and making smart travel decisions. We'll always be here for you when it's time to plan that bucket list holiday, family vacation, quick weekend getaway, or life-changing solo trip. We promise.
