Looking for the world's coolest neighborhoods? Thanks to the team at Time Out, you're in luck. For the sixth consecutive year, they're sharing the 40 hottest areas in cities around the globe. This time around, over 12,000 people weighed in with their opinions and input.

After the initial survey of classic favorites and neighborhoods hot with visitors and locals alike, Time Out narrowed the selection down with the help of editors and local experts. Other factors, like community and social ventures, access to green spaces, and thriving street life, were also considered when putting together the final list.

As the trend of digital nomadism – and the gentrification that follows – changes the landscape of neighborhoods across the world, new areas emerge as bastions of culture and cool. As Time Out published on its website: "The world’s coolest neighborhoods this year are, therefore, places with big personalities. Each area’s diversity is reflected in its food, culture and festivals. Community is key: locals have banded together to rebuild their neighborhood after disaster, to protest the demolition of much-loved cultural venues or simply to create spaces where people can come together and have some fun."

Many of 2023's top 10 coolest neighborhoods are scattered across Europe, but there's strong representation across Asia and the United States as well. There's definitely something for everyone, with plenty of travel inspiration to go around.
