Published by FareCompare on July 9, 2024
Things might seem to slow down during the dog days of summer, but there's plenty of updates in the aviation world that suggest otherwise. This roundup of some new airline routes across the United States are reason enough to make some new travel plans ASAP.
It's easier than ever to visit Latin American hotspots, connect to Europe, and access budget-friendly flights within the United States. Key airline partnerships are strengthened, new competitive markets continue to grow, and American travelers are presented with more options than ever before.
New Airline Routes Launching in July
Take a look at some of the more exciting news surrounding flight routes launched this month.
Canada & California: More Connected Than Ever
United announced that it's expanding connections with Star Alliance partner Air Canada, with daily flights between San Francisco and Montreal having started on July 1. The flight leaves SFO at 11pm and arrives to Montreal at 7:25 the next morning. Return flights depart Montreal at 8:30am and land in San Francisco at 11:46am. With this newest addition, Air Canada and United together will offer three daily flights on the route.
Fly to Mexico City from Four More U.S. Cities
Aeromexico continues to expand its United States network through partner Delta, which added four new routes from Mexico City to Raleigh-Durham, Salt Lake City, Tampa, and Washington (Dulles) this month. During COVID, Aeromexico had taken a step back on its U.S. operations; bankruptcy restructuring and growth limited by the U.S. authorities also played a role.
Delta Expands West Coast Coverage
Delta will now connect Seattle and Dallas-Fort Worth with two daily flights, four years after initially making plans to do so. Another route the Sky Team carrier launched in July: Detroit and Sacramento starting July 8. The last time the airline flew that route was back in 2020.
Boston Adds Another European Destination
Reaching Europe from Boston continues to get easier. Austrian Airlines launched daily flights between Boston and Vienna earlier this month. It's the latest city in a slew of new (or returning) long-haul routes from Boston this year. Some of the others include Abu Dhabi on Etihad Airways, Dublin and Paris on JetBlue, and Mexico City on Aeromexico.
Budget-Friendly Flights from Washington
New low-cost carrier Avelo Airlines has added Washington Dulles to its flight map. Twice-weekly flights on Mondays and Fridays between DC and New Haven will kick off on July 12.
