Could the Air Hook Mean More Legroom in Economy Seats?

A Kickstarter campaign is under way for an interesting-sounding gadget called the Air Hook that might mean more room in economy. Maybe.

See the explanatory video at the end.

Air Hook: More Legroom in Economy

In theory, this small gizmo would take the place of a space-hogging tray table. With the tray table in the up-and-locked position , a passenger would then attach the Air Hook, which (we are told) acts as both cup holder and perch for electronic devices (phones and tablets up to 7.5 inches tall). The point is hands-free entertainment with a bit more room for the viewer to stretch out in. Unfortunately, laptop users would seem to be out of luck although the campaign materials claim it’s “perfect if you enjoy putting your laptop on your knees and still having a place for your beverage.”

So far, the Air Hook campaign has surpassed its fund-raising goal of $15,000 by nearly $10K and the project will continue to accept investments through the last week in July. According to its public statements, the Air Hook could be available by the end of this year.

Caution: This is Not an Endorsement

FareCompare does not endorse this or any product. Sure, Air Hook sounds interesting and could fulfill a need, but we simply do not know. If you have more information on this, please share.
