On Feb. 19, Southwest Airlines (LUV) announced plans to raise domestic fares by $5 on one-way trips. “Many airlines now charge to select seats towards the front of the plane where passengers can board and deplane first,” said Williams from FareCompare. “It is good for business travels because they can travel in coach, and receive the benefits of business class, but for others it can be bothersome.”
