With a population of over 11 million as of 2011, Delhi, officially known as the National Capital Territory of Delhi (NCT), is a city and a union territory of India. Flying to Delhi

1. Which airports serve Singapore to Delhi?

Changi International Airport is the major airport in the Singapore area and is situated on the eastern of the city. You will be able to get regular, daily flights from this airport to Indira Gandhi International Airport, which is fairly centrally located in Delhi, not far from the city center.

2. Which airlines operate flights from Singapore to Delhi?

Singapore Airlines is the major provider of these flights, with daily, direct flights. Jet Airways and Air India also offer similar flights. Most flights from Singapore to Delhi will typically take about 5 hours and 40 minutes, without connections. Journeys that require a layover, however, will be somewhat longer, up to 8 hours or even longer. As Delhi is only 2 hours and 30 minutes behind Singapore you won’t need to adjust to the time difference too much.

4. Climate changes between Singapore to Delhi

The temperatures in Singapore are usually fairly constant, averaging around 80°F, while Delhi enjoys a more varied climate with the heat peaking in May and June. Delhi experiences significant rainfall in July and August, and although Singapore also experiences heavier rainfall, this is later on in the year.

Delhi’s currency is the Indian Rupee and it can be acquired at most Delhi banks, international airports, hotels and money exchange booths. Credit cards such as MasterCard and Visa can be used at ATMs to obtain currency as well.

A visa is required to enter India, in addition to a valid passport with six months’ validity beyond the date of your visa application. US citizens planning to visit no longer than 60 days for tourist purposes may apply for an electronic travel authorization at least four days prior to their arrival.

The 17th century Red Fort is a massive establishment filled with domes and turrets and the Jantar Mantar has massive sundials and different astronomical instruments that the people of Delhi still use today to predict the weather. You can also try your hand at haggling at the widely popular Chandni Chowk market, or visit the India Gate, which is a national monument to honor the fallen soldiers of World War 1 and the Third Afghan War.

After you’ve had your fill of historic landmarks, be sure to take in Lodhi Gardens for a retreat from the busy streets and the Swaminarayan Akshardham, which is a recently built, massive temple complex.
