1. Which airports serve Seoul to Tokyo?

Seoul is serviced by two airports – Gimpo International, which is a quick bus ride from Seoul and offers mostly flights to Japan, Taiwan and China, and Incheon International, which is an hour from Seoul but its primary airport, and one of the busiest in the world.
Tokyo also has two airports to choose from – Haneda Airport, also known as Tokyo International, which serves the greater Tokyo area and is an international hub, or Narita Airport, which is about an hour from the city center but easily accessible by public transport.

2. Which airlines operate flights from Seoul to Tokyo?

Both airports have direct flights daily, with the main airlines servicing this route being Peach, Eastar Jet, T-way Air, Jeju Air and Hahn air.

3. How long is the flight?

Direct flights to and from either airport will take between two hours and 20 minutes or two hours and 45 minutes. There is no time difference between Tokyo and Seoul.

4. Climate changes between Seoul and Tokyo

While both Seoul and Tokyo have very similar summer weather, Tokyo is warmer due to being sheltered by the Japan Alps. Otherwise, both have summers that are wet and humid, with cold dry winters.

5. Culture differences and need-to-know

The currency for Tokyo is the yen, and you can do exchanges at most banks or foreign exchange bureaus. Always double-check on visa requirements before your trip, but you should not need a visa to visit Tokyo from Seoul.

With a slightly larger population of people in Tokyo, it may seem more crowded than Seoul, but after wandering the beautiful grounds of Meiji Shrine and exploring the narrow shop-lined street of Asakusa, you will begin to understand why it draws the crowds.
Another impressive sight is the Imperial Palace, with its moats and stone walls, and the beautiful Imperial Palace East Gardens. If you have come to shop and have money to spend, then the Ginza district is the place to go. It boasts many top boutiques, the Kabukiza Theatre and one of the most interesting dining areas in Tokyo, including the best restaurant in the Ginza district, Uoya Iccho –which has an English menu available. Tokyo is hugely diverse in its cuisine and you can find traditional delicacies such as unagi (freshwater eel) and wagashi – the accompaniment to ceremonial teas – right through to basic, healthy fast food outlets.
