Calm Air International. Could the airline choose a more comforting name? (CALM actually is an acronym derived from one of Calm Air's founders name, Carl Arnold Lawrence Morberg). Based in Thompson, Manitoba, Canada, Calm Air is a regional, multi-service air carrier that operates in northern Manitoba and the Kivalliq Region of Nunavut.
Calm Air was founded in 1962 by a couple who owned a fishing camp and wanted to provide cheap, safe and reliable travel for their guests. They started with one small single-engine float plane and now serves 14 cities with a fleet of Dornier 328Jet planes, ATR 42-300’s and Hawker Siddeley 748’s.
