Avianca Air was originally registered under the name SCADTA and has been the flag carrier and national airline of Colombia since December 1919. The headquarters are in Bogota with its main hub at El Dorado International Airport (BOG). Avianca is also a trademark comprising of a group of seven Latin American airlines. These airlines combine operations to function as one airline using a code sharing system.

The secondary hubs for Avianca are El Salvador International Airport (SAL) and Jorge Chávez International Airport (LIM). They are also a part of the Star Alliance Network which enables them to connect to more 1,300 destinations in over 190 countries globally. Their regularly scheduled flights and air cargo transportation include more than 100 destinations in 28 countries.
