    Visit Toronto

As the gateway city for immigrants to Canada, Toronto is truly an “international” metropolis as well as one of the world’s most cosmopolitan cities. And did we mention how beautiful it is?

Tourists will delight in the beautiful waterfront setting along Lake Ontario, while enjoying the low crime, high standard of living, and clean environment. And did we mention the friendly people?

    Flights to Toronto

Flying to Toronto is very simple, and the same goes for finding cheap flights to Toronto.

Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ): This busy airport is a hub for Canadian airlines and is served by carriers around the world including numerous U.S. airlines.

    Attractions in Toronto

There are simply way too many terrific attractions in Toronto to list them all here, but check out these ideas (and look for more at the links below):

CN Tower – This Toronto landmark was built as a telecommunications tower but morphed into a popular tourist destination complete with 3-D movies, shops and restaurants, plus that glass floor

113 stories above the ground. Go ahead, walk across it – if you dare.

Yonge-Dundas Square – This unique entertainment center in the heart of downtown is an urban space complete with cafes and street entertainers that morphs into a giant stage for festivals and other special performances. Look for the computer-programmed fountains.

The Distillery District - This beautifully preserved Victorian district was once home to the region’s top whiskey manufacturers; today it’s a center for the arts, especially the theater. Look for one-of-a-kind shops, take an architectural tour, and yes – there are plenty of spots that will be happy to serve you a drink.

    Shopping and Restaurants in Toronto

Dining: From the restaurants of Greektown to the elegant establishments of Yorkville, this cosmopolitan city features a huge variety of cuisines, from Tex-Mex to Thai – from Indian to Italian – and well beyond. Do not pass up the seafood platter down by the waterfront.

Shopping: What do you want to buy? Toronto has everything from designer boutiques to flea market bargains – plus exquisite jewelry, factory outlets, gourmet food shops, antiques and more.

    Smart Tip

Visit the U.S. State Department’s “country specific information” section for Canada, where you’ll find embassy contacts in Toronto as well as visa/passport requirements, plus visitor guidance for such things as getting around staying safe. Find it at Travel.State.Gov.

    More Information on Toronto

These Toronto visitor guides can help you narrow down your “must see” list – or add to it.

Toronto Tourism – Your “everything” guide for what to see, where to stay, top attractions, shopping, dining and more; look for deals here, too.

Toronto.com – The latest info on hot clubs, trendy restaurants and more.

Toronto, CA – This official city government guide has information on farmer’s markets, museums, parks and easy ways to navigate this metropolis.
