It’s almost time to say goodbye to summer, and it’s already time to start planning your fall getaway.

There are good deals on fall flights to be found, and there are some easy things you can do to save.

Take a look at our Top Five Ways to Save on Fall Flights, and make sure to watch the video at the end for more details on fall travel from FareCompare CEO Rick Seaney.

    1. Holiday Travel Prices are Still High

When shopping for fall airfare, you’ll find dates around the holidays are still high. However, that’s not the case for other autumn travel dates. Check out Best Time to Buy Thanksgiving Airfare and Is it Too Early to Buy Airline Tickets for Christmas Flights for more info on Holiday travel.

    2. Fall Deals on Flights to Florida and Canada

Florida and Canada are two prime destinations for fall airfare deals. With kids going back to school, you can expect to see lower prices on flights to Orlando and other Florida destinations. We’re also seeing more seats being flown to Canada, which should lead to some good fall airfare deals.

    3. Sign Up for Airfare Alerts

Sign up for Airfare Alerts to track price drops and the latest fares to your favorite fall destinations. This will give you a better chance of spotting a deal before it’s already disappeared.

    4. Get Real-Time Airfare Alerts and Airline Deals via Twitter

At FareCompare, we provide real-time airfare alerts for over 170 specific departure cities via Twitter, so you can find fall deals from your hometown to destinations all over the world as soon as they are filed. Many of the airlines also have Twitter feeds that are worth checking out for special deals and airfare sale announcements.

    5. Tuesday is the Best Day to Shop

Shop for airfare on Tuesdays at 3:00 PM ET. This is generally the time when you will find the maximum number of cheap seats available. Many of these deals disappear by Thursday, so if you wait to shop until the weekend, you might miss your chance.
