Ice storms, raging blizzards, howling winds; what to do when it’s cold outside? Warm up, and here are some excellent places to do that, in the U.S. and around the world.
Bonus: Some of these destinations can be good bargains right now, depending on where you’re traveling from.

Warm U.S. Cities
California: We’ve been seeing good deals to Los Angeles, San Diego and Palm Springs. Los Angeles will probably be the coolest of the three, temperature-wise, but coolness is a plus too (think movie stars, Hollywood studio tours, great clubs and world class museums like the Getty). Tourism info here.
Florida: If you like it hot, you’ll like Florida – which also has miles and miles of beaches, wonderful seafood, and loads of fun activities for the entire family. Ft. Lauderdale and Miami can be bargains and we’re seeing more deals to Tampa, too. Tourism info here.
Texas: There are many good deals to both Austin and Dallas thanks to an ongoing airline fare war. The Big D has lots of pro sports teams, lots of boutiques for shoppers, lots of great steaks and Tex-Mex cuisine, while the university town of Austin is justly famous for live music and fun clubs. Tourism info here.
Warm International Cities
You’ll find plenty of heat in these cities.
Bali: This Indonesian island may appear on more travel bucket-lists than any place else on earth, and with good reason. Watch the graceful dancers, visit a temple, explore a coral reef. Tourism info here.
Dubai: This increasingly popular Middle East destination has lots of enticements for luxury-loving travelers from incredible designer shops to amazing hotels and restaurants with soaring views. Don’t worry if the temperatures get too high; you can always cool off at the ski resort in the shopping mall (yes, skiing in the desert). Tourism info here.
Now pull off those mittens, yank off that scarf and find those flip-flops. And have fun.
