Weird Travel Stories of the Week + Video

Week ending Dec. 6: Who is a finalist on The Voice? Who is naughty and nice? Who has pig video? We do.

Strange, Weird, Unusual & Odd Stories

Bad flights: Apparently all of them are to the NY Time’s Frank Bruni who wrote, “Courtesy is dead. The plane is its graveyard.” Oh, lighten up, Frank. Yes, flying is a hassle, but sometimes it’s downright cheap and it’s always fast.

Naughty and Nice: JetBlue and Spirit Airlines both made Consumer Reports annual Naughty & Nice list of companies. Gosh, can you figure out which was which? If not, look here.

TSA on The Voice: Damien Lawson, who is on leave from his TSA security duties at LAX has sung his way into the final five on the popular NBC show. Take a listen (start around 2:05) – this guy can really sing.

Bad pig on plane: A passenger boarded a US Airways flight in Hartford with her “emotional support” pig who promptly went wee-wee-wee all the way down the aisle. Or something like that but we do know the critter was incontinent, smelly and loud (yes, it squealed like a pig). See this New Yorker article for some fascinating background on the topic.

Good pig on island: See the video below.

Big twitter goof: A news report says Malaysia Airlines recently tweeted, “Want to go somewhere but don’t know where?” As everyone recalls (except perhaps Malaysia Airlines), one of its flights disappeared in March with 239 on board, and we still don’t know where it is.

Pilot strike: Lufthansa cockpit crews have launched a two day strike over early retirement/money issues, ruining the plans of 150,000 passengers. As one rather stoical flyer put it, “It’s not ok.”

VIDEO: Bahama pigs are GoPro-certified as clean & courteous.
