LOT Polish Airways Plane Makes Emergency Belly Landing in Poland

A LOT Polish Airlines 767 made a dramatic and successful belly landing at Warsaw’s Frederic Chopin International Airport earlier today, and fortunately, no one was injured.

Even more dramatic: Capt. Sully and the “miracle” in the Hudson

The plane, which was heading from Newark to Poland, had some unspecified problems with its landing gear and circled above the airport for more than an hour after it was scheduled to land, presumably to burn off excess fuel.  The pilot of the plane, which reportedly carried about 230 passengers and crew members, executed what one observer called a “textbook” belly landing

Check out this video from CNN/Reuters:

Amazingly, there were no visible flames from the plane as it met the tarmac, just a trail of smoke or vapor. Emergency crews quickly swung into action. All onboard are said to be in good shape.
