United Airlines Expands Baggage Delivery Service

United Airlines may be on to something – at least they think so, since the carrier has just expanded its baggage delivery service to 36 U.S. airports – and more are on the way.

This might be cool: $9 for less airport hassle

Skip the Carousel for Another Fee

Instead of waiting around at the baggage carousel for your checked-bags, United’s BagsVIP service will deliver them to your home, office or hotel. And yes, there is a fee for that:

    • 1 bag – $29.95
    • 2 bags – $39.95
    • 3 to 8 bags – $49.95

Note that prices are per delivery, so if you want your bags sent to you at your destination and when you return home, you’ll have to double those prices.

Oh, and add the standard bag fee ($50 round-trip for a first checked-bag on United); the delivery cost is in addition to the bag fee.

    Is Delivery Worth it?

Depends on you. Couple of things to keep in mind:

    • Delivery within a 40 mile radius is promised within four hours
    • Delivery within a 100 mile radius is promised within six hours
    • Delivery for flights landing after 11 p.m. will be next-day only (before noon)

Can Delivered Bags Still Get Lost?

Yes. There are no guarantees when it comes baggage.
