UPDATE Oct. 3, 2013: Southwest has fired the captain of the plane.
July 23: Investigations are well underway regarding yesterday’s incident at LaGuardia in which a Southwest plane’s front landing gear collapsed which sent the aircraft skidding along the tarmac. Ten people were reportedly hurt in the incident, but all are said to be minor injuries.
Two Videos of Rough Landing
Two videos of note have emerged. The first from WPIX has a passenger’s eye view of the rocky landing.
The second, from NBC 4 New York shows the landing from a distance.
Meanwhile, scores of flights were canceled or delayed in the aftermath as LaGuardia shut down a busy runway; it has since been re-opened but poor weather and presumably at least some residual fallout have given the Big Apple airport an excessive delays score from FlightStats through much of the morning.
