The AP is reporting that a Transportation Security Administration officer was arrested last night – Feb. 1 - on suspicion of theft.

7 Strange Things found by Airport Security (including lots of cash)

    Alleged Theft Seen on Tape

According to an NYPD spokesman, a female screener was allegedly seen on surveillance video taking $5,000 in cash from a passenger’s jacket as it went along the X-ray conveyor belt, then “wrapping the money in a plastic glove and taking it to a bathroom.”

What happened to the money after that isn’t clear, and it has yet to be recovered. The screener was arrested on charges of grand larceny.

Another $5,000 Theft at Newark Airport

    Other Theft Allegations

A similar accusation was leveled against a TSA officer at Newark’s airport last fall – he was ultimately sentenced for taking part in a series of thefts including one incident in which he was secretly recording taking $5,000 from a passenger’s purse.
