Thanksgiving and Christmas? Not Too Early to Buy Tickets for Some Dallas Flyers

This is probably where Dallas travelers should say, “Thanks, Southwest” because ever since the Dallas-based airline launched a sale to inaugurate new non-stops between Dallas Love Field and 15 cities, something very interesting has been happening. FareCompare CEO and  airfare analyst Rick Seaney spotted it almost immediately: Fares began dropping on the new non-stop routes for two of the most expensive periods of the year to fly: Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Cheaper Holiday Flights Only for Some

FareCompare checked prices on some of these routes (which include non-stops between Love Field and Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago, Denver, Ft. Lauderdale, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Nashville, New York, Orange Co., Calif., Orlando, Phoenix, San Diego, Tampa and Washington, D.C.) and have pinpointed some very good holiday fares on popular days to fly. Here are some examples and we’re seeing these fares good in either direction of travel (as of this writing – they may not last long):

Thanksgiving (Nov. 26 – 29)

  • Dallas – Chicago, from $302*
  • Dallas – Denver, from $309
  • Dallas – New York, from $338

Christmas (Dec. 23 -27)

  • Dallas – Chicago, from $262
  • Dallas – Denver, from $256
  • Dallas – New York, from $298

We are also seeing other airlines especially American beginning to match (or come close to) at least some of these prices, so be sure to compare any Southwest fares you look at with other airline ticket prices on FareCompare. And if these are of interest, get them now. No telling how long they’ll last now that the word’s out.

*Note: Most of these fares are non-stop flights but not all of them. Also, prices can change at any time.
