If you want to go to the Big Game in Phoenix, well – it will be expensive. But these last minute tips may help.
Look for Last Minute Deals
Last minute deals are rare these days, but – you can still find a few. We just spotted some weekend deals to Phoenix – for this weekend – but only a couple and you will have to hurry. See US Airways for details. Look for more flights here.
When to Fly
Forget flying Friday to Monday; that’s usually one of the most expensive itineraries. If possibly, fly Saturday to Tuesday, and you’ll save at least a little. Tip: Look at prices for departures on Wednesday and Thursday, too – it’s always good to double-check although don’t expect much.
Fly from a Big Airport
You will almost always save by flying in/out of the biggest hub airport near you. If you’re in the Southern California, check prices from the closest airport but also from LAX which will probably be cheaper.
Look for Package Deals
You may stumble upon a hotel+flight+rental car package deal which might be cheaper than a last-minute flight all by itself. If you don’t need the car and/or hotel, just don’t use them.
Unless your airline charges a fee for carry-ons (as Allegiant, Frontier and Spirit do), forget the checked-bag and use a bag that can be toted aboard your plane. In most cases, that’s a saving of $50 round-trip right there.
