As is customary, the Florida-based airline is promoted the new routes with an airfare sale, with seats priced as low as $38 each-way for U.S. destinations and $66 each-way for Mexico. It should be noted, however, that Spirit has a wide range of what it calls its optional fees, including a charge for all bags including carry-ons.

Spirit and $9 Airfares
On its website, Spirit points out that its new sale fares are much lower when stripped of taxes and fees, and the carrier was long famous for its $9 fares. Earlier this year, though, The Department of Transportation ruled that all airlines must show the total ticket price in all advertising, including taxes and fees.
