Most Profitable Airlines List Includes Some Surprises

According to a news report from Tulsa World, the most profitable airline in the world during the past 12 months was Allegiant Air, a U.S. discount carrier headquartered in Las Vegas.

The news story cited analysis from Airline Weekly which based profitably on the percentage of operating margin (in most cases from April 2014 to March 2015) and Allegiant’s margin was pegged at 22%.

Other discount or low-cost carriers scored high but one legacy carrier made the top ten: American Airlines.
