Just in Time for the Super Bowl – Spirit’s New Flights to New Orleans
Attention, Texans: Low-cost carrier Spirit Airlines begins new non-stop flights between Dallas and New Orleans – of special interest to anyone heading to the Big Easy for the Big Game on Feb. 3.
Daily Service Begins Jan. 24
The first flight takes off today (Jan. 24) and the airline will offer this round-trip service on a daily basis (but note that departure times will change beginning Feb. 14). For those not especially interested in the Super Bowl, Spirit offers connecting service from New Orleans to Chicago, Detroit, Fort Lauderdale and Houston.
Spirit – King of the Cheapskates
Cheap Airfare for Super Bowl
Unlike many carriers, which are beginning to raise prices on certain routes to New Orleans in anticipation of die-hard football fans who will pay the bucks to see the Ravens-49ers clash, FareCompare found Spirit’s Dallas-New Orleans airfares for a modest $235 round-trip (as of this writing). Warning: chances are these deals will be snapped up quickly.
The Little Airline that Breaks All the Rules
Spirit’s cheap fares for such a popular event fits in perfectly with its maverick – and cheapskate – image. As air travel analyst Rick Seaney once noted, “It’s the airline that breaks all the rules” and succeeds despite some notable public relations disasters.
