What is being reported as a brake fire led the 5-person crew and 86 passengers on JetBlue flight 262 to evacuate the plane upon landing in Sacramento. Everybody got off the plane. There are reports of minor injuries. Here is the latest on the incident from JetBlue (via their blog, Blue Tales):
“Our Flight 262 from Long Beach to Sacramento, with 86 customers and a crew of five, evacuated via slides this afternoon upon landing at Sacramento International Airport. The flight, an Airbus A320, landed safely shortly before 1 p.m. Pacific time.
Initial reports indicate that upon landing in Sacramento, there was a brake fire, and the crew elected to evacuate the aircraft out of an abundance of caution. The airport fire department reported immediately to the aircraft and emergency response personnel are on-site to assist. Minor injuries have been reported and those customers have been transported to local hospitals. Our local Care Team has been dispatched to ensure the comfort of all our customers.
We will get back to you with more as soon as we have additional information.”
