Iconic Twinkie Maker Hostess, One-Time Star of Southwest TV Ad, Declares Bankruptcy
Hostess Brands, the Irving, Texas-based maker of so many tasty treats like Twinkies, CupCakes and Ding Dongs, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy – just as its neighbor, Ft. Worth-headquartered American Airlines did two months ago.
But the Hostess brand became indelibly associated with another neighboring carrier – Dallas’ Southwest Airlines – when a Twinkie played the starring role in one of the airline’s amusing TV ads from a few years back:
