Just to clear up any confusion – and confusion abounds at the moment (Friday, April 19, 9:30 a.m. EDT) – Boston’s Logan International Airport is open and flights are operating normally.
@BostonLogan: We’re Open
This word comes from the airport itself via Twitter. It seems Logan folks have been busy debunking erroneous news stories suggesting the airport is closed or operating at limited capacity, none of which is true – per Logan. There is heightened security at Logan – just as there is at most airports across the U.S. in the wake of Monday’s bombing in Boston.
Few Delays Compared to Other Airports
Currently, FlightStats says Logan is experiencing “very low delays” which is the best ranking on the site’s delay index. Logan did report 20 delayed flights this morning, but that’s not out of the ordinary – in fact, on that score Logan is doing far better than the New York City airports, O’Hare, Detroit, Minneapolis, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Charlotte, Denver and more.
