China Airlines Wins Big Rose Parade Prize – Again

If you happened to catch the annual Tournament of Roses Parade on TV Monday, you may have noticed a particularly pretty float in the form of a fire-breathing dragon. That was the entry of Taiwan-based China Airlines and winner of the International Trophy.

By the way, U.S. flyers can catch China Airlines flights from LAX and JFK airports. The carrier is also a member of the SkyTeam alliance which includes Delta Air Lines, KLM, Air France and more.

    China Airlines’ 7th Consecutive Win

The big award for China Airlines wasn’t really much of a surprise, considering that this is the seventh consecutive win for the carrier. Its dragon motif was designed with the parade theme of “Just Imagine” and in celebration of the upcoming Chinese Year of the Dragon.

Which are the world’s most luxurious airlines?

China Airlines was the only air travel entity represented in the parade which included float sponsored by a mixed bag of companies including Trader Joe’s, Bayer and even Dick Van Patten’s Natural Balance Pet Foods, but this hasn’t always been the case.

Air Travel Celebrities and the Rose Parade

While this year’s parade grand marshal J.R. Martinez has no particular connection to the airline industry, past parade leaders have included a slew of travel luminaries such as Capt. Sully (former US Airways pilot Chesley Sullenberger of ‘Miracle on the Hudson’ fame); the Apollo 12 astronauts (Alan Bean, Richard Gordon and Charles Conrad of lunar landing fame); and William Shatner (of Star Trek’s ‘space-the-final-frontier’ fame).
