Cheapest Days to Fly
From Yahoo: “The cheapest days to fly are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday,” Scott Keyes told Business Insider. “If you have any flexibility in being able to fly on those days, that’s usually when you’re going to find the best fares.”
Couldn’t agree more Mr. Keyes, especially since Rick Seaney has been offering up this great advice at least since 2008 and it remains true today. The reason is simple.
Why the Cheapest Days are Cheap
Airlines know when we want to fly and when we don’t and price accordingly. That’s why Fridays and Sundays are generally the most expensive days to fly.
It’s also why Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays are generally the cheapest days to fly.
Can’t travel those days? Some suggestions:
- Fly one cheap day: You’ll still get a better deal than flying two ‘expensive’ days.
- Fly cheapest times: Early morning flights and red-eyes (overnight flights) are generally cheaper than later-in-the-morning flights.
- Compare fares: This can save you money every time you travel because no single airline always has the best deal. If you don’t compare, you could pay too much.
