Best Airports, Best Airlines for On-Time Performance

London-based OAG – which provides aviation data to firms around the world – has released its latest ‘best on-time performance’ report for both global airlines and airports. The lists (covering 2014) include old standards and a few surprises.

Best On-Time Airports

Small airports are defined as have fewer than 10 million scheduled seats per year while large ones have 20+million. The following had the greatest percentage of on-time flights.

Best Small Airport: The U.K.’s Bristol Airport (BRS). As for U.S. airports, Birmingham and Portland, Ore. made the top 20.

Best Medium Airport: Japan’s Osaka Airport (ITM). U.S. airports in Salt Lake City, Detroit and Washington, D.C. (National) made the top 20.

Best Large Airports: The top 5 included two U.S. entries.

  4. Singapore
  5. Minneapolis

Best On-Time Airlines

Large and small, these were the 10 airlines with the best punctuality records world-wide.

  1. Air Baltic
  2. Hawaiian Airlines
  3. Austrian Airlines
  4. Iberia
  5. Norwegian Air Shuttle
  6. KLM
  7. Saudi Arabian Airlines
  8. SAS
  9. Japan Airlines
  10. Thai AirAsia
