Attention: Passengers Traveling to Athens, Greece

Massive protests and strikes have shut down airports in Greece along with tourist sites including the Acropolis. There is also a 24-hour air traffic controller strike – and the situation keeps changing, so stay tuned to the news.

A look at the Athens airport website shows cancelation after cancelation.

Earlier today, the mass protests against recent Greek austerity measures turned deadly when three people were killed in what authorities believe was a firebomb attack on a bank in central Athens. If you are in Greece, try to avoid crowds if you can.

So far, no warnings or alerts have been posted on the U.S. State Department’s website concerning Greece, but that could change - check back often at http://travel.state.gov/.

We are not seeing much at the moment on various individual airline websites, but if you have travel plans for Greece, I would check-in with your carrier for any updates.
