The annual World Airline Awards have been presented, but not a single North American carrier cracked the top 10. The honors (formerly called the Skytrax awards), are based on votes by passengers from 160 countries, but we don’t know where these voters hail from.
World’s Best Airlines for 2014
Besides the following airlines, the big winners are passengers in Asia and the Middle East.

U.S. Bright Spot: Virgin America
San Francisco-based Virgin America did crack the world-wide top 10 Best Low Cost Airlines, the only U.S. carrier to make the cut. It also topped a regional list – Best Airline Staff, North America – but came in second to Canada’s Porter Airlines for best North American regional overall.
