In the latest fallout from American Airlines’ bankruptcy filing last November, the carrier has decided to end passenger service to Southern California’s Bob Hope Airport in Burbank (BUR).
American Flights End at Burbank Feb. 9
The last American flights to and from Burbank will cease as of Feb. 9. The airline, however, is still a major presence at Los Angeles International (LAX) and no changes are expected there.
American had operated as many as three flights a day out of Burbank, and while passengers will be affected, AA employees will not since operations there were contracted out.
Burbank Left with Six Airlines
This move leaves Burbank flyers with just six airlines to choose from: Alaska, Delta, United and US Airways plus low-cost carriers JetBlue and Southwest.
