Several U.S. airlines launched airfare sales this morning, to compete in the relatively new online shopping tradition known as Cyber Monday. It’s actually phase two of the big holiday shopping season which kicks off the day after Thanksgiving with Black Friday.

Which Airlines Offer Cyber Monday Sales

Airlines offering Cyber Monday deals include the following:

    • Frontier 10% off sale with promo code
    • Southwest flights from $59+ each-way
    • AirTran flights from $59+ each-way
    • Alaska deals from$40+ each-way

Also, Delta Air Lines is offering shoppers who purchase items from its SkyMiles shopping merchant/partners up to quadruple miles as a special bonus.

3 Reasons Why You Should Not Procrastinate on Holiday Airfare

Shoppers Spend Billions on Black Friday/Cyber Monday

During a normal week, airfare sales typically launch late Monday or early Tuesday, but several carriers have moved up sale start dates/times to take advantage of the Cyber Monday buzz and grab-a-deal mentality of cost-conscious consumers.

According to USA Today, early figures show the post-Thanksgiving shopping spree has been a success – sales that kicked off on Black Friday brought in $52 billion over the weekend compared to 2010′s $45 billion. And last year, Cyber Monday was the biggest online shopping day of the year.

According to the National Retail Federation, more than half the adult population in the United States will be on their computers today, buying something for the holidays – or for themselves. Expect numerous airfares to be included in those purchases.
