American, Southwest and United are part of a growing list of airlines halting flights to and from JFK, LaGuardia and Newark and in some cases, other northeast cities including Philadelphia. A classic Nor’easter storm is bearing down on the region still recovering from last week’s Hurricane Sandy.

The airlines are no doubt still smarting from the beating they took in the wake of Hurricane Sandy which led to hundreds of canceled flights in the region. Fortunately, that storm and the new Nor’easter come at a slow period for the airlines, just ahead of the busy Thanksgiving period.
