FINAL UPDATE Nov. 16 12:30pm EST: The latest airfare hike attempt has failed. No other airline stepped forward to match the new higher prices, and Delta rolled back its hike during the 10am feed. This is the first time all year that a hike attempt had no takers.

UPDATE Nov. 15, 11am EST: No matching activity during the 10am feed on the part of Delta’s competitors; more updates to come.

Nov. 14, 2011 10:40pm EST: Moments ago this evening, Delta Air Lines initiated a broad-based domestic airfare hike across the bulk of its U.S. route system.

The hike varies in price from $4 to $10 round-trip depending on the route.

This is the 20thairfare hike attempt of the year; the most recent airfare price increase attempt was less than two weeks ago, plus there were two other back-to-back attempts in October.

More details will emerge Tuesday as matching activity begins, and we will update as soon as this occurs.
