Winter Airline Tickets on Sale – Don’t Wait Until Next Year

    Rick Seaney•December 27, 2007
    alexa-airlines.jpg

I know most of us have just about had it with shopping this time of year — well at least some of us (my wife just called me and said she has just singed the edges of our credit card).

Typically most would not start shopping for airline tickets until early next year — the historical airline website statistics clearly show this and as you might imagine the airlines know this as well — so do the opposite — start shopping for those airline tickets now and let me show you why …

Yes, the airlines study our buying behaviors, where we want to go, when we want to go and especially when we start shopping — and they use this information to their advantage to maximize their profit.

Notice in the airline website traffic graph below the spike in traffic last January 2007 — You can rest assured the airlines keep close tabs on this and will use this peak in “demand” to properly set the price of their “supply”. That is why you should be shopping now — when no one else is, because:

    • Tons of of winter airline ticket sales still going on (not for long)
    • Airlines are not in high gear right now actively managing all those new shoppers early next year.

The airlines aren’t the grinch — they are a business — trying to make ends meet just like every other business, the more you know about them (and yes they do know everything about you) — the better buying decision you’ll make…
