Spirit Airlines issues 30 challenges, $30+ Airfares

You have to hand it to Spirit Airlines. Even in the midst of financial issues, rising costs, and a seemingly ever-changing air travel landscape, they still manage to hit you with some of the grandest marketing campaigns. They have caused controversy with their MILF and WTF airfare sale promotions, and they continue to crank out their ever-popular $9+ airfare sales.

Spirit’s latest marketing push comes in the form of a challenge. Their “30 Days, 30 Tips, 30% Less Fuel Consumption (and you could also lose 30 pounds!)” sets forth a 30-step plan for us all to follow. Spirit suggests that by following these steps, we’ll cut down on fuel consumption, save money, and yes, even drop a few pounds.

Along with the challenge, Spirit Airlines is offering some great travel deals. You can find $30+ one-way airfares to a range of destinations, and you can save $30 on airline tickets to a range of other destinations.

Keep reading for a look at the first three challenges Spirit has laid out for us, and visit Spirit Airlines – Cheap Tickets for the full list and more info on their 30/30/30 Plan…

    The Spirit Airlines 30/30/30 Plan (1 – 3)

    1. Carpool – sharing a ride with up to 3 other people can save thousands of dollars. Here are a few online resources to help you find a few folks to share a ride with: www.erideshare.com, www.icarpool.com, www.carpoolworld.com. If you drive a vehicle that gets just 20 mpg, you can get 80 mpg per person if you carpool with three others. Heck, some of you might make new friends…but you could lose some too if you don’t invest in breath mints.
    2. Use public transportation and leave the car at home. With the money you save, splurge on the breath mints for this option as well…and share them when necessary.
    3. Flying Spirit not only can save you 30%* or more compared to others, we use up to 30% less fuel than many other carriers using older technology aircraft. Still bring the breath mints if you like…but stay away from chewing gum onboard – it’s hard to clean up.
