Southwest 72-hour sale, as low as $35 each way

**Update: From United to Virgin America and from Delta to JetBlue, nearly all big carriers have matched the Southwest and AirTran sales that have dropped round-trip fares to less than $100 on hundreds of short routes across the country.

Flights of 450 miles less are $35 each way while longer flights are more. Fares top out at $125 each way on flights of more than 1,500 miles. You must purchase by 11:59 p.m. PST October 20, 2011.

Southwest Airlines continues to “make the right call” by kicking-off a 72-hour sale with fares as low as $35 one-way! You certainly can’t throw a penalty flag on that play.

  • Purchase one-way tickets for $35, $65, $95 or $125 based on length of travel.
  • For travel up to 450 miles, fares are $35 one-way.
  • For travel 451 to 1,000 miles, fares are $65 one-way.
  • For travel 1,001 to 1,500 miles, fares are $95 one-way. For travel 1,501 or more miles, fares are $125 one-way.

These incredibly low fares are available for purchase through 11:59 p.m. PST October 20, 2011, for travel beginning Nov. 30 through Dec. 14, 2011 and Jan. 4 through Feb. 15, 2012.

SOUTHWEST FARE RULES
Fares are available on www.southwest.com or www.swabiz.com only. Southwest Airlines sale fares are available for purchase from Oct. 18, 2011, through 11:59 pm PST Oct. 20, 2011. Travel must take place between Nov. 30 through Dec. 14, 2011 and Jan. 4 through Feb. 15, 2012. Travel valid every day except Sundays. Fares do not include a federal excise tax of $3.70 per takeoff and landing. Fares do not include airport-assessed passenger facility charges (PFC) of up to $9.00 and U.S. government-imposed September 11th Security Fee of up to $5.00 one-way. Seats are limited. Fares may vary by destinations, flight, and day of week and won’t be available on some flights that operate during very busy travel times and holiday periods.. Fares are available for one-way travel. Fares may be combined with other combinable fares; however, fares are not combinable with Senior Fares. When combining fares, all rules and restrictions apply. Fares are nonrefundable but may be applied toward the purchase of future travel on Southwest Airlines. Fares are not available through the Group Desk. Any change in the itinerary may result in an increase in fare. Standby travel requires an upgrade to the Anytime fare. Fares are subject to change until ticketed. AIRTRAN FARE RULES
All fares are one-way. Fares shown do not include Airport Passenger Facility Charges of up to $18 roundtrip. The September 11th security fee of up to $10 roundtrip is not included. Fares do not include segment taxes of $3.70 per segment. A segment is defined as a takeoff and a landing. Fares to/from Puerto Rico do not include additional government taxes of up to $32.60 round trip. All fares are nonrefundable and a $75 fee per person applies to any change made after purchase, plus any applicable increase in airfare. Seats are limited, subject to availability, and may not be available on all flights. Fares available for purchase Oct. 18 through Oct. 20, 2011, 11:59 p.m. PST. Domestic and San Juan, Puerto Rico travel available from Nov. 30 through Dec. 14, 2011, and Jan. 4 through Feb. 15, 2012. Fares not available on Sundays. Fares to/from Asheville, Atlantic City, and Moline/Quad Cities valid for travel until Jan. 6, 2012. A first bag may be checked for a fee of $20 each way and a second bag may be checked for a fee of $25 each way. Reservations may be made via AirTran Airways Telephone Reservations Center for a fee of $15. Reservations may also be changed via AirTran Airways Telephone Reservations Center for a $15 fee plus any applicable change fees and fare differences. Fares, routes, and schedules are subject to change without notice.
