Big Lufthansa Sale: Carrier Drops Advance-Purchase Requirements

The Lufthansa strike is over, and as reported by Scott McCartney of the Wall Street Journal, the carrier is doing its best to make amends with customers:
“Lufthansa, which had a crippling pilots’ strike for part of the past week, is now offering any ticket without any advance-purchase requirements – walk up and get the cheapest price. The catches: The sale lasts for only four days, travel has to begin by March 7, and you can only book it by telephone or through a travel agent.”
This sale could mean big savings for travelers. If you’re a business class traveler, you could save thousands on last minute purchases. However, as Scott points out, you have to act fast and you have to go through the right channels:
“A Lufthansa spokeswoman said that these prices weren’t loaded ‘for sheer technical reasons. It is not possible to file this special fare in all channels as quickly as we would like,’” she said. (from the Wall Street Journal)
