FareCompare is looking for a data analyst who is obsessed with the overall quality, accuracy, usability,
competitiveness and performance of every product in the company. This newly developed position will be capable of
applying out of the box, regimented, accountable processes and team-based philosophy to upgrade and then maintain
the bottom-to-top quality of software and services.
We seek candidates that rise to challenges with the curiosity and mental dexterity to analyze and solve complex
problems. We look for professionals who will bring a fresh perspective and a desire to make a huge impact and are
comfortable with ambiguity.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for determining the quality of airfare pricing data received from multiple sources,
    through our internal processes to final product.
  • Assess existing data sources and identify the best sources for specific routes.
  • Determine and improve the quality and quantity of our results page.
    • How do we compare against our competitors in quality and quantity of results returned,
      available prices, variety of times and number of stops offered?
  • Work with the product development team to define functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Determine and assess the quality of our APIs and our partner?s APIs.

Qualifications

  • Strong cross-functional relationship management capabilities.
  • Ability to work with senior executives to plan priorities and direct technical development
    activities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid analytical, critical and creative problem solving skills.
  • Highly proficient with writing SQL queries and understanding database schemas.
  • High level of personal organization, as well as the ability to promote efficient and effective
    organized teamwork.
  • BA/BS degree required preferably with a strong technical acumen.
  • Self-starter who has a proven track record in getting stuff done and delivering results that
    deliver substantial value.

Experience

  • Industry E-commerce a must – travel, mobile product background a significant plus
  • Technical – A technical background or the willingness to become more technical is a huge plus as
    the candidate may need to negotiate with developers who value kindred ship
  • Business – Understanding priority tradeoffs, making resource constrained decisions and
    understanding the organization ramifications requires the candidate to have business acumen

Mid-Level Java Software Engineer

This is a great opportunity for a strong, experienced mid-level Java developer. Ability to work with a team or as an individual contributor is a must. Junior Linux Systems Administrator

FareCompare is looking for a Junior Linux Systems Administrator that will work very closely with software development teams and support groups to meet business and technical demands. The candidate must be an outstanding team member, ready to assume ownership, to follow-through and be willing to exchange knowledge with the rest of the team. Must be a self-starter and able to work independently, with little or no supervision. Ability to rotate on-call responsibilities is a must.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Set up and scaling of a large number of servers, including systems automation and application
    deployment automation.
  • Implement and support fault tolerant systems across the infrastructure including clusters, OS and
    application dependent instances.
  • Shares responsibility for the day-to-day support, maintenance and monitoring of development.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with hardware, applications and network infrastructure.
  • Perform hardware and software installations, upgrades, and troubleshooting of OS, provisioning,
    email and web based applications.
  • Document Linux configurations and procedures.
  • Perform resource monitoring, performance tuning, and scaling of infrastructure as necessary.
  • Configure, monitor, and manage physical storage and file systems on Linux servers.

Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build effective working relationships with software
    engineers and other coworkers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to multi-task, prioritize,
    coordinate, work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Bachelor’s degree in MIS, CS or related discipline preferred.
  • Industry certifications a plus (RHCSA, Linux+, LPI, CCNA).
  • Must be able to pass background check and drug test.
  • Configure, monitor, and manage physical storage and file systems on LINUX servers.

Experience

  • 2+ years experience with Ubuntu and/or CentOS
  • Experience with VMWare v5 and virtual environments
  • Internet server protocols and utilities (DNS, SMTP, POP, IMAP, HTTP/S, TLS, S/FTP, TCP/IP, SSH,
    iptables)
  • Extensive experience with Virtualization, specifically Amazon (AWS) and fail-over scenarios
  • Experience working with clustered / load-balanced servers
  • Knowledge with OS and network security (firewalls and system hardening)

Product Manager

We have three newly created positions that are waiting for leaders with a background in ecommerce and driving new
feature development and improving existing products. We are looking for leaders to drive product development in the

    • Responsible for driving the quality of our search results, technologically savvy (understand
      APIs), improve page conversion, introduce merchandising, incorporate new features and enhancements

Strategic Objectives

Drive new feature development and improve existing products through customer surveys, market research, with a focus towards an unparalleled customer experience, making it easier for customers to find and book. Develop the strategy and tactics that will be used to drive awareness, adoption, and repeat usage of FareCompare.  Among the mechanisms this leader should evaluate and be comfortable with include feature development, cross-functional partnering, analytics and an emphasis on data driven product development.Lead the organization through change, evolution, and sustained growth. The right Product Managers will lead by example, being just as passionate about operational performance and predictability as they are about all other aspects of the customer experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive product throughout the lifecycle from inception to launch with an eye for potential ROI,
    level of risk and window of opportunity for new feature development
  • Define, prioritize and produce product requirements aligning with business strategy, wireframes
    and other mock ups
  • Identify and act when opportunities present themselves
  • Manage and mitigate risks cross channel: business, IT, marketing, sales, etc.
  • Evaluate project velocity / trajectory on a daily basis to respond to changing priorities
  • Owns the product backlog for his/her product
  • Can easily identify and course correct when veering off schedule, scope or budget
  • Work with Sales & Marketing to define ?release to market? strategy
  • Strong communication both written and verbally across organization and with third party vendors
  • Act as the product champion and have a deep understanding of the internal systems and data
    sources/structure within the company

Basic Qualifications

  • BS or BA with a minimum of 5 years product management experience, preferably within the travel
    industry
  • Experience with Agile Methodology, data analytics, web technology and products
  • Proven track record of successful deliver in taking new products and features through the entire
    lifecycle
  • Strong leader who can get results in a matrix organization
  • Experience with user experience, focus group and A/B testing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have delivered results with a strong entrepreneurial spirit
  • Possess a strong understanding of the software development, operations and management within the
    travel industry
  • Have a strong track record of shaping business strategy for technical products or services
  • Possess deep industry understanding and be conversant with online services technologies

FareCompare is looking for experienced project managers to be responsible for the coordination and management of
projects for internal and outsourcing teams. Oversee all aspects of projects, including setting deadlines,
monitoring and summarizing progress of projects.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Creates and manages project schedules and resource capacity plans
  • Adjusts priorities and resources against changing priorities and business needs, while maintaining
    a high level of leadership satisfaction
  • Monitors project progress on a daily basis, and makes the appropriate adjustments to meet
    commitments
  • Facilitates scoping and work estimation
  • Identifies project issues, assigns action items, and follows through to ensure issue closure
  • Identifies project risks and formulate risk mitigation plans
  • Manages project communications and status reporting
  • Facilitates internal and external project meetings
  • Monitors project actuals (spend and/or business benefit) against budget/forecast and provides
    variance reporting
  • Ensures project documentation is complete and retained

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years experience as a project manager
  • 2-5 years experience working with software developers
  • Experience managing large projects across cross-functional teams
